This is not for hanging spools in the common way, but spools that help hanging something else: vintage spool peg rack tutorial, by Jessica Wilson on Craft.
You will need:

wooden spools, but also nice plastic ones are ok, for a different look

a plaque to attach the spools to, wood is probably easier to work with, but any other paintable and screw-able material is ok

screws to hang the spools, they must be a little longer than the spools and appropriate for the material you’re using (wood is different from metal)

screwdriver

pencil, to make signs

picture hanger, or a soda can pull tab (great idea)

a strong glue

colour paint or decoupage paper to cover the plaque and the spools, if you like

Crochet covered jars di freshlyfound.

È primavera, spuntano i fiori.

I had this knit tank top around from forever. I liked its bright colours and fitted wear, that’s why I bougth it for a bargain on a vintage market stand. But eventually I got to really wear it only once or twice. So, back in November, I decided to recycle/upcycle it. You too can do something similar more faster than writing the how to in a blog post, for sure!

Basically, I just cut off the upper part of the tube top and put it away. I liked the stripes, while I didn’t want to have much yellow against my face. I wanted the tube to be quite long, so I could double it and wear the neckwarmer in different ways. So, i cut away the upper part and simply stitched it with my sewing machine, and it got lightly curled up. Done! It’s simple as that. And you can wear it with the curly side down like in the first pic, or like a gorget (?) like this:

You can also double it twice and go all black, for a more subtle look.

This project is best with any knit tops you may have, because they’re usually stretchy. Mine was 100% acrylic so it’s also practical to wash, but it works with any fiber. You can also try with stretch jersey, indeed let me know if you do!
That’s all folks! Hope you like it.

[...] If you want to try it out on your own, it’s super easy. I just use an x-acto to cut out the shape of what I want to print, and then use the same blade to make linework. I like to go over the lines again with something pointy; I use an etching tool, but you use any sort of stylus to just widen the lines slightly. You can even just draw into the styrofoam with a pen, or anything that will indent it — but I like the nice lines you get from using an x-acto. Printing is exactly the same as a linocut, except that you have to be careful inking multiples, as the edges get squished down a little bit. This material doesn’t work well if you want a print with a lot of thin ink-colored lines or small shapes, but it’s great for simple, bold shapes with fine, cut linework. [...]
