Quando ho visto il Craft Crochet-Along con le istruzioni di Roxycraft per il Fuzzy Panda amigurumi, non ho avuto dubbi: ci avrei provato anche io. Ufficiosamente, perchè non ero sicura di poterlo fare in real-time in una settimana (il lavoro, le cavallette, ecc). E poi era un progetto perfetto per ricominciare gli incontri settimanali con le altre omiche magliste. Così è arrivato Sgonfio.

Stavolta sono stata brava e ho seguito le istruzioni alla virgola…ochei, quasi. La mia idiosincrasia (sfoggio per non dire estrema difficoltà) nel seguire le regole, qualsiasi regola, alla lettera ha colpito ancora. Ma stavolta mi sono limitata a scegliere dei filati diversi, perchè devo togliere di mezzo un po’ di lane e acrilici in casa, ed ecco perchè Sgonfio è a pelo corto e non lungo come l’originale :) E poi dovevo anche provare un set di occhi e naso! Dalle foto non si vede molto, ma posso assicurare che Sgonfio lo è di nome e di fatto.

Per una volta il cibo vero imita la maglia&uncinetto e non il contrario: ecco i cupcake (in italiano forse si potrebbero chiamare muffin con glassa?) che Lolo di VeganYumYum ha fatto per una serata tra amiche di maglia. I dolcetti hanno avuto talmente tanto successo, che la cuoca è stata invitata da Martha Stewart (sorta di guru americana del craft&DIY) a spiegarne la ricetta nel suo show. C’è anche un foto-tutorial per fare gomitolo e maglia di marzapane.
Poi su VeganYumYum si trovano molte altre ricette, bellissime a vedersi e probabilmente anche a gustarsi, insieme ad una selezione delle ricette preferite da Lolo e alcuni piccoli segreti culinari svelati. Tutte le preparazioni sono vegan, ovvero senza alcun ingrediente di origine animale.

Sembra una sciarpa, invece è un gioiellino di avanguardia tecnologica con incorporato un codice QR, che vorrei tanto sapere a che informazione porta. Office Lendorff, geni della maglia pixelata, oltre a The Invader Scarf fanno tante altre belle cose.

I’m trying hard to make new things for the shop and work on craft projects in the spare time I have. I’ve done about three scarfs and half in the past two weeks or so, and it’s good, but I must start sewing sooner or later. Continuo a fare l’uncinetto e me lo porto ovunque. Ma prima o poi devo ricominciare a cucire seriamente, senza nascondermi dietro un dito.

Let’s say I bought this book almost only for Camilla’s softies pattern. Let’s say that I’m drooling over them from a long – long! – time, and that I couldn’t get my hands on them no way because they sell the moment they are born. Ok? ok. And, that said, let’s say also that I normally hate to follow a pattern (you can go metaphorical here, too), and that, no matter what I tell myself, I sure end up to make something different – or everything. Well, with all those things said I forgot what I wanted to say at first, anyway I crocheted this Elephant Bear (I like to think of him like the Elephant Man in da Super Cuties Softies World) constantly asking my mind what the hell a back loop was. I searched all the book, that is very clear otherwise, and couldn’t find anywhere for it, so I started guessing in italian and tried to crochet in circle from left to right instead of the usual way (right to left), yes, going back. Now, those softies are all made in slip stitches and anyone who crochet out there would perhaps understand why I was yelling doing this. If you do crochet and love to work everyday circles in slip stitches going back, stop reading and go out of my blog please. Ok, I was joking. Maybe.

Anyway, I couldn’t stand that torture and guessed that Camilla neither and that I was surely making something wrong, so finally decided to slip stitch normally all the way and turn inside out the softie at the end of the work. It was a minor threat, but I was humiliated also by the fact that I couldn’t understand neither the special stitch called in the pattern, so I worked all the softie with a sense of sacrifice for my ignorance and dummyness. Then, the other night, while casually reading the book about a crochet stitch I used for a scarf, I dumped in a back loop. I couldn’t believe my eyes. Doing a back loop is so simple and distant from what I tried to guess about it, I wanted to cry or to kill. I swear little Elephant is still alive.
