According to my own experience, people in Belgium seem to have great, visionary ideas when it comes to the subject of drawing&photography together. The whole Photo Doodling experience started after I saw a photo uploaded by my belgian flickr friend jo.co, which he drew and scribbled all over. And now, here comes Ben Heine in Belgium as well, with this amazing Pencil Vs Camera! set where reality is completed with drawings, in a “reality doodling” of sort!

I really like the idea and the realizations as well; the above photo is the first of the growing series, while below are some of my favourites. Here’s what Ben Heine says about how it all started, you can read more here. And this is Ben Heine’s blog, updated weekly.

I’ve been taking photos and drawing since almost 10 years. This « Pencil Vs Camera » series is nothing but the result of several years of graphic exploration and a logic consequence of my artistic evolution. But the real idea came while I was watching television and writing a letter at the same time a few weeks ago. Reading my letter before putting it in the envelope, I saw in transparency the television behind the paper. I then realize it would be great to make something similar in a single image showing 2 different actions.

William Wegman was born in 1943 in Holyoke, Massachusetts. [...] By the early 70s, Wegman’s work was being exhibited in museums and galleries internationally. [...] It was while he was in Long Beach that Wegman got his dog, Man Ray, with whom he began a long and fruitful collaboration. Man Ray, known in the art world and beyond for his endearing deadpan presence, became a central figure in Wegman’s photographs and videotapes. In 1981, Man Ray died. [...] William Wegman lives in New York and Maine where he continues to make videos, to take photographs and to make drawings and paintings.

Running from camera

I love this project:

The rules are simple: I put the self-timer on 2 seconds, push the button and try to get as far from the camera as I can.

muggezifter is running from his camera since 2006. He also links to other similar, previous or emulating, projects like As Far as I Could Get and the Escape From The Camera flickr group. Keep on running!

Un po’ di cose che mi dimentico sempre di scrivere, altre trovate per caso, idee ed ispirazioni sparse.

Anche se con estremissimo ritardissimo, voglio ringraziare chi nei mesi scorsi ha segnalato il design, la grafica e l’interfaccia del sito web di Ciao!Cimba: Webdesigner Depot, Blog Theme Machine, Web Designer Mag, The Design Superhero, Dr. Web, Kayac Designer’s Blog. Molte di queste segnalazioni hanno provocato ondate di visite da queste parti, e da tutto il mondo, perciò thank you folks! Su tutti i link ci sono poi tante altre ispirazioni per grafiche e layouts.

Qualcuno in Svezia ha seguito il mio foto-tutorial su come creare stelle con nastro! Mi fa molto piacere, anche e soprattutto che le foto siano abbastanza chiare da poter permettere a tutti, pure a chi non conosce una parola di italiano, di provare. Se anche tu fai o hai fatto le stelle, perfavore scrivimi (info @ ciaocimba.com), oppure fammelo sapere qui sul blog o con un link dal tuo!

Idee per utilizzare il nastro adesivo colorato e stampato, di quelli bellissimi che si trovano per esempio su Lemon Tree:

1. Come decorazione sulle cornici, su decor8.

2. Sulle mollette di legno! Fantastica idea facile e low-cost, su whisker graphics.
